2008 | Wildlife (series 1), Team Sports, Iron Man, Mario Kart DS, Wii Remote, Bratz

Wildlife (series 1)

In 2008 the first Wildlife series of Klik dispensers was released.  There are three dispensers in the series:
  1. Monkey
  2. Penguin
  3. Panda
These dispensers are part of Candies for Cause where "3% of Au'some's proceeds go to help protect the world's wildlife".

Team Sports

The Team Sports series of Klik dispensers was released in 2008.  There are five dispensers in this series:
  1. Baseball
  2. Basketball (Orange ball)
  3. Basketball (Red ball)
  4. Football
  5. Soccer
You'll notice the Basketball and Baseball have strings attached, which turns the Klik dispenser into the classic cup-and-ball toy.  Very cool.  Scroll down to watch a video of this cup-and-ball game demonstrated with the Basketball Klik dispenser.

Iron Man

2008 saw the introduction of the Iron Man series of Klik dispensers, which coincided with the Iron Man movie.  This series has two unique heads, Mark 3 (gold) and Mark 1 (silver), but six different stem stickers, four for Mark 3 and two for Mark 1, giving six different Iron Man variations.

While the Mark 1 dispensers have "Mark 1" on the stem sticker, the Mark 3 dispensers have "Iron Man", not Mark 3.

What about Mark 2, you ask?  No Klik dispenser for it, but scroll down to see a comparison of Mark 1, 2, and 3.

To add some confusion, if you scroll down you'll see that the Iron Man Mark 3 Klik dispensers were also released in bags with Marvel Heroes written on them.  My guess is that these don't actually have the Marvel Heroes logo on the stem sticker as the other Marvel Heroes Kliks do.

Mario Kart DS

In 2008 the Mario Kart DS series of Klik dispensers was released.  Initially there were only two dispensers in the series, Mario with Blue stem and Mario with Red stem.  Then in 2010 Yoshi joined the series.  The common variation has paint lines on the engine and has stickers on the wheels.  Harder to find variations include no paint lines on the engine and no stickers on the wheels.  There are nine dispenser variations in the series:
  1. Mario on Kart with Paint Lines on Engine, Red stem
  2. Mario on Kart with Paint Lines on Engine, Blue stem
  3. Yoshi on Kart with Paint Lines on Engine, Green stem
  4. Mario on Kart no Paint Lines on Engine, Red stem
  5. Mario on Kart no Paint Lines on Engine, Blue stem
  6. Yoshi on Kart no Paint Lines on Engine, Green stem
  7. Mario on Kart no Stickers on Wheels, Blue stem
  8. Mario on Kart no Stickers on Wheels, Red stem
  9. Yoshi on Kart no Stickers on Wheels, Green stem
Note the cards and display box have ULTRA on them, which is because these Klik dispensers don't have a simple character head.  In fact, the Mario and Yoshi Karts detach from the stem and have rolling wheels for a great little toy.

It's interesting that the Mario Kart DS Klik dispensers are also available in bags (scroll down for photo), but the bags don't have ULTRA on them.

Scroll down to watch a cute video of two little boys doing a review of the Mario Kart DS Klik dispensers.  They exercise all the options of these Klik dispensers, that's for sure!

The Mario Kart DS video game was released by Nintendo in 2005.

Wii Remote

Released in 2008 was the Wii Remote series of Klik dispensers.  There are four dispensers in the series:
  1. White
  2. Black
  3. Pink
  4. Blue
This is an interesting Klik dispenser with all its compartments, as you can see in the photos below.  The top face plate slides to reveal a channel for the loose Smarties candies to be dispensed.  On the back, the compartment that normally holds two AA batteries in a real Wii remote instead holds two rolls of Smarties.  Pretty clever.  Scroll down to watch a video demonstrating the Wii Remote Klik dispenser.

In the photos below you'll notice there are two variations in the packaging, KLIK ULTRA and KLIK-on.   As far as I can tell, the KLIK-on packaging is the more common variation.

Bratz

The Bratz series was released in 2008.  There are four Klik dispensers in this series:
  1. Yasmin (brown hair)
  2. Sasha (black)
  3. Jade (asian)
  4. Cloe (blonde hair)
These are the first Klik dispensers released in the "Ultra" form where the "head" is no longer just a head, but in this case, an entire body.

    3. Very interesting! Can you point me to photos of these variations? Preferably on card for the one with no sticker on the wheels to prove its legit.
